"Brand Protection Working Group meets in Frankfurt

Finally a face-to-face meeting, or rather a hybrid after a long time.
13 participants of the joint working group against product and brand piracy of CLEPA and AAMPACT met in Frankfurt on Wednesday and 2 participants had connected online.

Messe Frankfurt had invited us and organised everything very well. The participants were happy to meet again in person after more than 2 years. The last meeting of this working group was at the beginning of March 2020 at MAHLE in Stuttgart.

Even though the "Covid19- Shut Downs" have affected the manufacturers of counterfeit products just as much, the topic is still very present. The participants reported on their current experiences. In addition to Asia, the Middle East, Turkey and Russia continue to be markets that need to be monitored intensively. Increasingly, North African countries are now coming into focus with Morocco, Algeria and Egypt.

Messe Frankfurt presented their current activities with regard to cooperation with customs and specialist lawyers for the upcoming Automechanika. The topic of product and brand piracy has always been a focus at Messe Frankfurt across all sectors.

Afterwards, the company EDGYN presented their solutions for the counterfeit-proof labelling of products. „OneIdentity+“ reported on the further development of their offer with QR codes, which, in addition to product recognition and tracking, can also be used for additional functions and marketing measures at the same time.

The date for the next meeting of this working group was immediately set for 3 May 2023. However most of the participants will certainly see each other at the Automechanika in Frankfurt from 13-17 September.
